The images within this post are a representation of the wonders of photoshop when it falls into the right hands. Photogapher Phil Maynards hands for that matter.
Along with the fashion shots that I styled for up and coming photographer Phil Maynard last week we co-ordinated a range of beauty images to be printed as a by-product. Phil had a set of Chanel tatoo transfers that makeup artist Holly McDade arranged on the model's neck to create a dark and gothic graphical effect. This gave me the idea to focus upon distortion of image within the final product as the makeup applied was unnatural and angular, as well as being an unnatural feature of the models face, and therefore the image. The transfers influenced the idea that the collection of imagery could be made to appear as though taken in another dimension.
Whilst this had the potential to give the final product a space-age twist we wanted to steer away from the stereotypical and create something unexpected, new and cutting edge. we wanted to portray fashion, graphics and creativity within beauty imagery, offering it to the viewer in a way that encouraged intrigue and admiration. focus upon certain features of the face and the makeup make the image appear intricate and I think that the layering and distortion of the original image mean that the final product has depth. I hope that each viewer takes something different from the imagery.
