We set up the space in the art installation secion of the warehouse space and I brought along a range of my UK magazines from the launch of Spring/Summer in Europe to support my section of the talk. I introduced the session by chatting about trends that we can expect to see emerging on the Sydney fashion scene as the warmer months approach and based my findings on my participation and learnings from Austalian Fashion Week, the WGSN trend prediction seminar that I attended and research of trends and developments to fashion happening in Europe and the UK. I presented imagery on a large board to support my topics. The idea was to get everyone involved and host a discussion amongst the group.
I was joined by Melissa and Alissar, two more members of the Chic Petite team and they brought their own personal knowlege to the discussion also. Melissa drew from her TAFE styling course to introduce the ways in which different members of the group could apply trends to their own body type, colourings and appearance. Alissar then spoke about niche places to source fashion in and around Sydney so as not to remain dependant upon commercial retailers. The idea was to encourage attendees to explore their city for hidden gem labels and original designs.
We had a special guest who also spoke for a while about her unique business venture within the fashion industry. Jen from Blue Caravan : http://www.bluecaravan.net/ We were lucky enough to have her fly down to Sydney from Byron Bay to be a part of Fashion Hour and learning about her venture was very inspirational! I even think that the session enabled her to team with an ethical jewellery designer who also happened to be in attendance! Success!
All in all I am delighted with how Fashion Hour panned out and excited to announce its return at the next event in November! Thank you for your support Sharon!
