Last Thursday I celebrated the end of a busy week by hitting the streets of Chelsea for a friends birthday. I had a day in London with work so went to meet a few friends to support a friend of mine in a play in Marylebone. He had co-written and was performing in a range of scenes put on for an audience of friends, family and talent scouts and it was a fantastic start to the evening because it was a funny, feel-good show and it was fantastic to see a friend doing something they love so well!
Next we went to meet a few more friends - very boy meets girl - and ended up in Public, a club made oh-so-famous recently by the 'Made In Chelsea' crowd. As expected considering the theme of the night the cast were there in their numbers. (Professor Green is currently dating Millie MacIntosh of the show, FHM's number 10 most sexy woman this year and fashion-savvy cast member.)
In terms of interior, the bar / club has an underground yet glamorous, chic vibe and the clientele are fabulously stylish and out for a good night. The bar is made of copper and the tables around the edge of the dance floor give the place a relaxed feel. Larger on he inside than I initially thought the main room was heaving when Professor Green started to perform and the energy was ridiculous. Ever a believer that music is always better live I am sticking to my guns yet again. Having never really been a massive fan of Pro Green's music I was apprehensive as to how much I would enjoy but I am a true convert. Staying until the lights came on was almost expected and my group of friends were certainly not alone in that opinion.
In summary - is Public worth a visit? Yes. I had a great night. If up-market, sophisticated glamour is your style you can't go wrong. Expect high prices, higher heels and an eclectic and varied playlist.
