The Tweet Mirror : A New Multi-Channel Marketing Technique Bringing Retail and Technology Together

The Tweet Mirror is a new device under trial in Australia. Another development bringing retail and technology closer together and involving the consumer by creating a relationship that they can value. Ultimately designed to help retailers achieve a seamless multi-channel marketing strategy, the idea encourages shoppers to become brand ambassadors by promoting products through their social media channels. As it becomes more and more important - some may say essential - to have both physical and digital presence, consumers such as myself are expecting to see innovation in a technological sense. As a Gen Y consumer, I personally am looking for a brand that has personality and encourages me to buy into it. I want to feel involved. This sort of development is particularly intriguing.
The device uses touch screen technology and internet connection to enable customers to take their own pictures in different outfits and instantly share images and information via Twitter, Facebook, MMS or email. Having launched in areas of Europe, India and China, Australia is now jumping on the band wagon.

Tweet Mirror is the first to bring together physical and online presence using multi-channel marketing and the presence of Tweet Mirror in multiple sites, shoppers can share their love for a brand with their social network followers virally and instantly. The stronger online presence could also increases traffic to a  retailers online store.
Field also revealed that the Tweet Mirror is relatively hassle-free for retailers to install, with no software development required and only minimal initial set-up customisation needed to “plug and play”.
A spokesperson from Brackley Industries, the company that has distributed the software said : “The valuable data base collected by Tweet Mirror is also easy for the retailer to access and is a useful and valid data base to leverage marketing activities.”

Cotton On Group Launches Innovative Shopping Experience Combining Music and Fashion

Cotton On, the popular Australian high street brand has recently launched a fitting room service that combines both music and fashion. It is my opinion that this especially innovative idea puts Cotton On at the cusp of the ever-influential introduction of technology within the fashion industry. 'Try on Your Sound', as it has been named, consists of a fitting room that uses Radio Frequency Identification to enhance consumer experience.

Ragtrader reported:
'Selected garments are tagged with a unique RFID code that initiates a playlist once a customer enters the purpose-built change room. The playlist is individually selected to reflect the style of the garment. Cotton On has initially launched the service for select men's and women's denim styles, with music ranging from rock, indie or pop.'

Clever in so many ways as not only will the experience help the shopper to relate to the brand and feel like a valued customer, they may also be encouraged to make a psychological bond with the product, encouraging them to purchase. Using up and coming talent and less commercial / well-known Australian musicians, Cotton On has remained in keeping with its branding and personality. The idea is to combine the definition of 'self-expression' through music and fashion and to speak to the target market on a personal, identifiable level.

And here's the technical part. To work, the RFID system transmits electronic information between a garment tag and a reader via a wireless system, requiring no need for human intervention or line of sight between the label and the computer. The technology activates when the garment and reader are in close proximity.

Continuing the theme, consumers are invited to share experiences with followers and Cotton on via Twitter at #tryonyoursound. I love this idea - totally innovative and completely responsive to the evolving trends within technology, fashion and media today. Could this be the next big thing in retail? I think Cotton On have set the standard for a more interactive shopping experience in the future.

Aquabumps : #BondiNostalgia ...

These images were taken and produced by Australian photographer Eugene Tan. I am obsessed. For anyone who is either visiting or residing in Sydney I urge you to take a trip to the Aquabumps gallery to see these beauties in person. A huge array of fantastically mesmerizing images can be viewed and although my preference in this particular post is very clear (because who isn't partial to a pink sunset?) the shots are diverse and varied.

Capturing some of the most beautiful moments at a variety of beaches, in a variety of countrues, with a variety of features these images sum up my love for Bondi. Take me back... #nostalgia

Today Im Loving : Layered Skirts

I bought two waterfall skirts in Sydney before I left - they were actually popular there before taking off in London if you can believe it!? But these layered chiffon beauties take the idea to the extreme and I love them!

Sociability Review : Cookie, Melbourne

Cookie was the bar / resturant that we went to on the Sunday night in Melbourne having been recommended to go there. The cocktail list was extensive and delicious and the food was thai cuisine.
The interior was fitting with Melburne's general artistic, individual vibe and had what looked like a Canadian winter theme in its interior which I can only assume is related to the Speciality Beer House that it is also home to.
Menu's were presented in old childrens books or on wooden clipboards and cocktails had imaginitive names.
The perfect social hotspot in the centre of the city there was something for everyone and the large table in the bar encouraged a relaxed and welcoming feel to the establishment where groups could mingle before being shown to their table.
Personal favorite : my strawberry and mango daquari. Perfection.

Melbourne : Girls Weekend. We Drink, We Eat, We Dance, We Shop..

The last weekend in October I went to Mebourne with the girls for a long weekend. The city could not have been more different to Sydney! My first impression was that everything that I had been told was true : you really do experience all  seasons in one day and the whole aura around the place is one of quirky cool, individualism - not too dissimilar to certain areas of London. However, one thing that did strike me as odd was how quiet the place was. For a major city in an enormous country there seemed to be a huge lack of people! We chose to go over the weekend of the Melbourne Cup and 2 of the girls stayed for the big race on the Tuesday so I was expecting to see crowds of people over the course of the weekend.

When we arrived we explored the city by foot and got our bearings. Staying on Flinders Street was an ideal location and the tram ran right past the door.
A very green city - almost like Perth, with gorgeous cafes tucked away and a laid back vibe to a fashionable lifestyle, we couldnt put our finger on where the place reminded us of. One minute it felt like we were in the streets of Italy, getting a coffee in a tiny mug and sitting next to an artist sketching away at his surroundings, the next it was Bournemouth down by the beach where market stall holders set up their businesses selling woodwork, souvenirs and art in the blustery sea air. There were certain more cosmopolitan elements like Collins Street Shopping centre and Chalmers Street which reminded me of Paddington,Sydney. It certainly kept us guessing!
We went up Eureka Tower, the tallest building in Melbourne and saw some amazing views from the top. Saturday night we explored the nigtlife and went to Boutique, a bar/nightclub that felt just like being out in Clapham and Sunday went to Cookie, a recommended cocktail bar and resturant with an underground feel and  a laidbac atmosphere.
The photos do the talking from the trip and we had a brilliant time together. Verdict - an awesome city to visit and perfect for a girls weekend but Im a Sydney girl through and through!

Sulptures By The Sea. Bronte to Bondi

Currently displayed on the coastal line between Bronte and Bondi is the Sculptures by the Sea exhibition put on annually. Artists contribute to display their work for the free exhibition sponsored by Waverley Council. The sculptures and the live art event was certainly worth visiting as the sample of my images show. What a fantastic project supporting established and emerging Australian artists.

Story of my life...

Amazing.

Trend Watch : Paris Fashion Week

These are just some of the street style images that I have collected since browsing Paris Fashion Week and its statement-making trends. One of my favorite popular choices off of the catwalk was the eye-catching bright and chunky bracelets teamed with a printed, contrasting clutch bag. These pictures epitomise what I mean...

Feline Fashion

This new ad campaign by Stylestalker appealed to me because of the strong use of a theme. I love a shoot that tells a story and this one works with the idea of the model mirroring the cat within her appearance and mannerisms. The pale colour palette and delicate fabrics of the collection are complimented by the concept.
