Day Six: Menswear Day.

James Long: Royal College of Art Graduate.

When asked his signature piece, designer James Long replied;

“A leather technique piece and a signature knit." - www.londonfashionweek.com.au

That much is certainly true if this collection is anything to go by. I'm a sucker for a chunky knit. Womenswear or menswear I'm not bothered, I'll wear either, and I'll love either. The shabbier the better. The knitwear in this collection is fabulous. Love how cosy it looks and the aura around it is effortless cool. Mixing with leather isn't something I'd ever thought to do, but I think it would have a similar effect to teaming it with lace. It's an easy to wear statement piece that can almost go with anything. I'm missing my chunky knits in Australia right now..theres not really any need for them! Maybe I'll invest just in case though!

Inspiration for the collection is said to have stemmed from "Mayhem, forests and fog horizons.” It does have an element of the Twilight saga to it! Werewolf traits are certainly depictable and the fierce looking, chiseled models only add to this illusion.

Soon to be on the catwalks, Long is teaming with designer Lulu Kennedy to create some womenswear at Fashion East this season so I'm watching this space for the feminine interpretation of these designs.
