British Liasons by the Australian Ballet at the Sydney Opera House. Fri 20th May 2011.

On Fridya nigt I went to see British Liasons at the Opera House put on by the Australian ballet. A ballet in the Opera House is something that I have been wanting to attend since I arrived here and finalyl I got to go! The experience was every bit as I had imagined and the entire night was actually quite surreal when I look back on it now! The inside of the theatre was eormous and the orchestra huge. The show was made up of 3 sections with 2 intermissions which broke it up somewhat and it was less intense than any ballets I have seen before!
The first one was probably the longest and was based arund the idea of a chess board  being good and evil. The costumes were the most impressive in this section of the show and this is where the imagery for the advertising has come from.
The second section was my favorite and consisted of a contempory style of dance within the traditional ballet. There were 3 couples dancing together and they presented a gorgeous performance.
Lastly the company ended with an upbeat set of choreograophy, the dancers wearing yellow, orange and red traditional leotards and skirts. I think that the costumes could have been much more stunning than they were but the quality of dance and synchronisation completely made up for it.
