Princess B auctions the Toilet Seat hat

I haven't blogged about the fashions at the Royal Wedding because to be quite honest there was enough about that plastered all over the web already. Of course Kate looked stunning and McQueen designed the dress, and some say Pippa stole the show, and Im not going to lie...I was beside myself with excitement all day for our English tea party down under on the 29th April. On skype to mum, Moet in hand and relaxed after a long week at work as it was our evening that it aired live.
Princess Beatrice turns her fashion faux-pas into a good cause!

This piece of news as an aftermath however was too good to miss. Likened to the ugly sisters in Cinderella, princesses Beatrice and Euginie made ultimate fashion faux-pas, but as retaliation to the media coverage Princess Beatrice has auctioned the now famous hat to raise money for UNICEF UK and Children in Crisis. The rose-colored hat got numerous blog posts and even earnt its own Facebook page "Princess Beatrice's ridiculous Royal Wedding hat" with more than 143,000 "likes."

The attention that the hat recieved meant that it was inevitable that a lot of money was to be made and it sold for more than $130,000 last Sunday in an online auction!

Reaction to the auction on the hat's Facebook page was positive. "Gracefully done, Princess B," "auctioning off the monstrosity for a good cause with dignity and humor."
The princess is quoted to have said: "I've been amazed by the amount of attention the hat has attracted. It's a wonderful opportunity to raise as much money as possible for two fantastic charities. I hope whoever wins the auction has as much fun with the hat as I have."

Talk about the power of social networking! She gets a gold star from me :)
