Fashion at the Races - Royal Randwick
Derby Days are kicking off! Last weekend Royal Randwick hosted the David Jones Derby Day, and Emirates on the 16th so fashion is out in force in Sydney for these events, with ladies often getting their dresses made especially for the event. This si definitely something I am going to miss about Ascot this year..Royal week. Even if Im not attending, it generally imposes upon my life as getting to and from my house becomes a hellish ordeal. HOWEVER. passing the time sitting in traffic is fine when you have enough people, dresses and drunken messes to people watch. This is one thing I love about it.
Australian fashion icon Jodi Gordon is the ambassador for the races for 2011. She is a total babe i reckon. Always dressed appropriately in a stunning outfit she is a true representation of our favorite side of the event - FASHION. Interviewd before the season kicked off she said
'I would say the biggest difference between Autumn and Summer racing would be in your headpiece, so wear felt for autumn and keep straw for spring racing.'
Doncaster Day this year will be when you can experiement with coloured dresses as David Jones day was based around a black and white theme.
Next weekend brings the Emirates Derby Day and there promises to be an interactive Fashion Spotting competition in the category of female classic racewear where ladies will go on to participate in the Fashion Spotting Finals to win fantastic prizes.
